I’ve always been a DIY sort, but in 1963 I married into an family of sculptures, painters and ceramics artists. Looking for a creative outlet, I tried it all. Macrame, lapidary and pottery, among others. I loved the potters wheel but it wasn’t convenient with my military career. I made the jump to Woodturning and the rest is history. I joined the AAW as soon as membership became available. My membership number is 1210. I am a founding member of the AWA and have served as its President and Vice President. I realized early that there were demonstrations featuring objects but what was needed was instructions on the use of turning chisels. This led me to develop a demo I titled “Presentation of the tool to the wood” I believe in teaching how to use each chisel. The choice of project is yours.
